The Stiletto Gen5 Small Box rack-n-pinion is engineered for superior performance and longevity.
Over fifty years ago a legend was born. Stiletto Steering Systems is the industry standard for race car steering. Stiletto rack-n-pinion steering boxes are the gold standard benchmark of driving control.
The wide selection of purpose-built Stiletto steering boxes are known for their smooth "Swiss Watch" movement, ease of use and unparalleled durability.
We’re not going to tell you how it works or all the finite steps required to produce a product of this caliber—just know that Stiletto Steering Systems continue to win more races than any other and bring drivers home for the next pass.
So, if you are looking for the smoothest operating, safest, most proven steering rack and components you are in the right place. Expect nothing less than near perfection from the team at Pro-Werks.
Built with out compromise in the USA.
The overall ratio (steering response) of a steering system is determined by the degree of the movement of the front wheels in relation to one turn of the pinion gear (or steering wheel). Example: One turn of the steering wheel (360º) divided by 30º tire movement would have an overall ratio of 12 to 1 (360/30).
This overall ratio is a result of two factors; the distance of the rack travel created by one turn of the pinion gear and the length of the spindle arm that the tie rod connects to. It's important to note that a shorter steering arm will result in faster steering response rate and the overall ratio ends up smaller numerically, and a longer arm will result in slower steering response rate and the overall ratio ends up larger numerically.
For comparison purposes, the overall ratios that we list are calculated using a spindle arm length of 5 inches. This length reference is measured from the center of the spindle king pin axis to the center of the mounting hole for the tie rod.
Also note that a larger (or smaller) steering wheel diameter will effect the driver input requirement and feedback, as well as influencing the overall steering system response speed.
6.4 : 1 has 4.625” of rack travel in 1 rotation of steering wheel
10 : 1 has 3.141” of rack travel in 1 rotation of steering wheel
12 : 1 has 2.618” of rack travel in 1 rotation of steering wheel
15 : 1 has 2.094” of rack travel in 1 rotation of steering wheel
20 : 1 has 1.570” of rack travel in 1 rotation of steering wheel
